Diane Gallant

“I needed someone I could trust: someone to replace an existing, poorly-made, deck and gazebo in the front yard of my townhouse. Thomas was that someone. My mind was immediately put at ease due to his obvious knowledge and expertise. His client liaison is superb, his accounting is transparent and the quality of his work is excellent. Markley Construction delivers on its promises.”

“I am an owner of an older house and thus I am not new to hire contractors for repair and renovation. For the current issue of split/loosened door jamb, I have gone through at least 5 contractors with various quotes and prices. I am a bit shocked by the salesmanship of some contractors, trying to talk me into replacing the entire door and door frame, which would have costed me thousands of dollars. I felt so fortunate to have contacted Thomas Markley. He showed up on time and was very courteous. Importantly, he looked like an organized fellow. He asked me about the problem and requested pictures. He showed up prepared, with all the necessary tools. What impressed me is his honesty. He explained to me that my problem was repairable and did not need total replacement. He fixed the problem like a pro. For the quality of work and the very fair price he charged, I have kept him on my go-to person list for any future house repair.

I would also not hesitate to recommend him to anyone else.

Thumb up and thank you, Thomas!”

Jerry, Coquitlam

“Thomas and his team were instrumental in our whole home renovation. Starting out by building a whole new fence after our old one collapsed, we then had him out numerous more times for countless other projects.

Thomas has a great network of tradespeople to tackle every job you give him. His background in construction in the film industry comes through with his creative approach to design.

You will not be disappointed by his work and he’ll take every effort to make a job right, even if it was not originally done by him.”

Mark, New Westminster

“We wanted to replace contractor grade laminate flooring in our entryway and bathroom. Thomas installed the vinyl flooring we selected and replaced baseboards and door trim. We are thrilled with his work and how fantastic our floor and bathroom turned out. First rate work. Outstanding!”

“We purchased an apartment in New Westminster with the intention of renovating it entirely. Our plan was to choose a contractor for the ensuite bathroom, and if the renovation went well, we would continue working together on the rest of our projects.

This was my first time selecting a contractor. New Westminster has unique requirements for renovations which must be understood by both parties. Many contractors we interviewed were oblivious to these requirements or were simply not interested in working under these strict guidelines.

Thomas Markley was the best candidate by a large margin and made our decision easy. We had done a fair bit of research however there were several steps we missed and some good advice that came from the interview. We also had some issues of our own that would complicate the process. We had busy lives and difficult schedules and a protective Rottweiler at home. Thomas assured us this would not be a problem for him, and that he could make himself available to work around our schedules.

As this was our first time planning a renovation, we needed all the help we could get. We had already chosen many of our suppliers before selecting a contractor. But after nothing but headaches we consulted Thomas. We ended up using every supplier Thomas suggested and abandoned our previous choices. All of Thomas’ preferred suppliers were cheaper, with a much higher quality, and gave us the perfect amount of direction without being pushy.

Thomas is very good at scheduling his time. The only delays in construction were ones that I created through poor planning on my end and delivery delays. If I had planned effectively the entire renovation would have been completed in around 10 business days. Lessons were learned and our next renovations will go far smoother, as we will make Thomas a bigger part of the planning process.

During the renovation, Thomas identified several points where we could create more value out of his work, and we ended up using all of them. With his guidance and the expertise of his subcontractors we were able to create a bathroom beyond that which we imagined.

Thomas Markley is a true craftsman and an expert in his field. We are delighted with his work and plan to continue our relationship for all our renovations.

P.S. He also gained the trust of our Rottweiler and is one of few that can enter our home without an escort.”
